You do not need to be a First-Time Home Buyer

to be a First-Time Home Buyer?

The law defines “first-time home buyer” as a buyer who has not owned a principal residence during the three-year period prior to the purchase. For married taxpayers, the law tests the homeownership history of both the home buyer and his/her spouse.

A taxpayer who owned rental property within the past 3 years is still eligible for the credit.

HOMEBUYER TAX CREDIT EXTENSION APPROVED

The Senate has voted last night (11/4) to extend and expand the popular $8000 tax credit for First-time homebuyers that was scheduled to expire Nov. 30 2009 until April 2010. They have added a home buyer tax credit of $6500 for repeat buyers. For more information on the tax credit please click here:
